Statement from the College of Homeopaths of Ontario
The College of Homeopaths of Ontario (CHO) is aware of recent media reports regarding an individual charged with sexual assault who has publicly described himself as a “homeopath.” The College confirms that this individual is not, and has never been, a registered homeopath in Ontario.
Homeopathy is a regulated health profession under the Homeopathy Act, 2007. Only individuals registered with the College may legally use the protected titles “Homeopath” or “Registered Homeopath (HOM).” Anyone using these titles without registration is acting illegally.
The College’s mandate is to protect the public. Registered homeopaths must meet strict standards of practice, adhere to a professional Code of Ethics, and are subject to rigorous oversight and disciplinary processes. Sexual abuse of a patient is prohibited and treated with zero tolerance under Ontario law.
Members of the public can verify whether a practitioner is registered by consulting the College’s public register.
For concerns about unauthorized practice or misuse of title, please contact the College directly.
